June 11, 2008 I'm officially booked until 2009. Here's what I'm up to for the rest of the year: I'll be tour manager for the Guy Forsyth Band's month-long east coast (via the midwest and Canada) tour in July. Take a peek at the tour schedule to see all the places we'll be going. If we're passing through your town, be sure to come by, say hi, and enjoy the show. August and the first part of September is set aside to decompress from the tour and catch up on school work and art work at home. I have my 30th birthday on Sept 6 and intend to celebrate accordingly. Oh, and I've been working on a master landscape design plan for my home, and in Aug and Sept I plan on planting a whole bunch of green goodness including lots of organic veggies, herbs, and central Texas natives. I can't wait to walk out into the garden to see what's for dinner. There is something so satisfying about eating food you grow yourself. At the end of September, I'll be heading west to the high desert of Arizona to spend more than a month at Arcosanti. I'll be participating in a five-week workshop where I will become intimately familiar with the philosophy and workings of this visionary urban experiement.
November-January I'll be in Marfa, Tx working at the Chinati Foundation. I'm excited about spending a couple months in West Texas and spending so much time amongst the installations at Chinati. The work there will be a central part of my thesis work. When I get back to Austin in January 2009, I'll be busy finishing up my masters degree. I'll be synthesizing my experiences at Arcosanti and Chinati with my philosophical work about the intersection of art and the environment in relation to aesthetic experience. There is already talk about Art Outside 2009 which would commence planning immediately upon my return from Chinati, and we'll see what other doors have opened by then. I really feel called to go to Peru and do more international travel and artistic collaboration in general. I'm also considering applying to the Pont Aven School of Contemporary Art to further work on my art for a few months in France. Who knows what will come up by then, it feels like a world of possibility is open, but still a world away. xo LL
