Unwed with Calla Lilies is the result of my ongoing interest in gender identity, queer theory, and androgyny.  Documenting subjects that embody these concepts is both a spiritual and political task.  The interplay between the beauty and feyness of the subject on one hand and the sense of political exclusion and inequality on the other creates a tension the viewer must confront or else become implicated.
